Renowned as a Member of the National Trust Historic Hotels of America, Skytop Lodge Resort and Spa has been delighting guests since 1928. Rising from the splendor of an ancient mountain setting, Skytop’s signature natural stonework is at home with the vistas that surround it.
The ultimate in resort vacationing, Skytop is a charming blend of old world charm and character, timeless attention to detail, impeccable service, modern conveniences and amenities, and, of course, that signature sensation of complete and utter relaxation.
Through the years the lodge has become more than just a destination to its many devoted guests, many from families that have been attending for generations. What keeps them coming back? From summer adventures or autumn foliage, winter sports or spring flowers, the one thing that all Skytop lovers share is a sense of natural wonder.
In 1925, when the nation’s post-World-War-I prosperity was still at its height, John Stubbs, Frederic Smith, Earl Mayne and Sam Packer had an idea to build a grand resort in the Poconos on a high plateau three miles north of the village of Canadensis. They purchased eight tracts of land, totaling 2,500 acres, hired a landscape architect to decide on the location of the lodge and golf course, and Skytop was born.
