Art was invited to join the Rotary Club of Dallas in 2001 after he and his wife, Sandy, also a Rotarian, retired and moved to Dallas, PA from the Washington, DC area. Art has served as a club board member and president 2005-2006. He is also the chair of the Dallas Rotary Club's First Responders Awards Program which recognizes the dedicated service of the men and women of the Back Mountain EMS, Fire and Law Enforcement Services.
At the District level Art has served as Assistant Governor 2007 - 2009, Assistant Governor -at-Large 2009 - 2010, District Conference Committee member 2007 - 2010, District Trainer 2009 -2010, and he will be the District Conference Chair for 2011 - 2012. Art and Sandy are both Paul Harris Fellows and Rotary Benefactors.
Art was born in Danville, PA and attended Kings College, Wilkes-Barre, PA while he was assigned to the Wilkes-Barre area and finished his degree at Upper Iowa University. He served in the United States Air Force for four years earning recognition for service in Vietnam, including the Bronze Star. In 1970 Art became a Special Agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives serving throughout the United States and retiring in Washington, DC as the Executive Assistant to the Director. He served as an advisor to the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation on the Criminal Justice Information System, NCIC, as a member of the CJIS Advisory Policy Board, CJIS Sanctions Subcommittee and the CJIS Security Subcommittee. In addition, he was appointed by the Attorney General of the United States to serve on the Global Criminal Justice Information Network Advisory Committee to advise the Attorney General on Criminal Justice Interstate Compact issues.
Art and Sandy have been married for 40 years. Sandy was born in Kingston, PA and is also a graduate of Upper Iowa University. Sandy retired as a Regional Vice President, Chevy Chase Bank, Mortgage Division, Washington, DC area. Art is an Elder in the Presbyterian Church and serves as the Clerk of Session. He is also a member of the King David Lodge, Valley of Bloomsburg, Consistory, Shriners of North America, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. In addition, he is a life member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, National Sheriff's Association and Fraternal Order of Police.
